How To Minimize Wrinkles Around The Eyes With Face Yoga

Sphere: Related Content

Yoga works wonders for the muscles of your body, so why not your facial muscles, too? That's the theory behind Face Yoga. Yoga teacher Annelise Hagen, author of The Yoga Face, demonstrates techniques to minimize wrinkles and sagging muscles around the eyes.
Face yoga is designed to help reduce and even prevent wrinkles on your face. These exercises are designed to loosen wrinkles around your eyes.

How does face yoga work? * Exercising the muscles in your face will help tone them (just like exercising the muscles in your body) and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It plumps the muscles under the skin, and lifts the skin along with it. * Performing these exercises with face yoga can help you control the way your face shapes itself.

Will facial exercises/repetitive motion actually increase wrinkles? * No, the facial muscles are involuntary muscles, so doing a program of trained repetitions can actually reduce the wrinkles. * Facial expressions that you constantly make due to stress and other factors are more likely to cause wrinkles.

Crow's feet * To help combat crow's feet, isolate your lower eyelids and wink with only your lower eyelid. * To create resistance and really build the muscle, place your index finger in the area of the crow's feet while winking the lower eyelid. * Do about 20 repetitions on each eye.

Upper eyelid * To tone the upper eyelid area, close your eyes and hold down your upper eyelid (not with your fingers—just try to 'glue down' your eyelid firmly) to the lower eyelid for 5-10 seconds. * Do several repetitions to build the muscle.

Keeping a face yoga routine * Since you will be training new muscles on your face it is best to start with your problem area and focus on that. * Perform these face yoga exercises a minimum of two times per week in the mornings.

How To Sculpt And Lift Your Cheeks Using Face Yoga

If you'd try anything except a facelift to look younger, Face Yoga may be right up your alley. Yoga teacher Annelise Hagen, author of The Yoga Face, demonstrates simple moves that she says will sculpt and lift your cheeks and keep you younger looking.
Did you know that you can keep the muscles in your cheeks firm and younger-looking through face yoga? Here are some exercises you can use to tone your cheeks and keep them from drooping.

These exercises concentrate on the following sets of muscles: * The risorius and zygomaticus, which run along the cheek bone area. * The buccinators, which form the apple of the cheek.

The Satchmo * Inhale, hold your breath, and alternately puff your breath back and forth from cheek to cheek, puffing out each cheek as you do so. * Repeat until you run out of breath, and then exhale through your mouth.

The Marionette * Wrinkle your nose up and down, the way that a bunny would. * Place your index fingers in the crease on either side of your nose. Apply pressure to create resistance as you move your nose up and down. * Do not move your eyebrows. * It may be helpful to try to smile as you do the exercise. * Do three sets of 20 repetitions.

The Prom Queen * Stretch the corners of your mouth toward your ears with a slightly upward smile as though you are laughing out loud. * Widening your eyes will help with the exercise and can also help prevent eye creases. * You should feel a stretch in your lips toward your ears. * Hold the stretch for five to ten seconds.

Smiling Fish Face * Suck in your cheeks and pucker your lips to imitate a fish face. * Try to smile simultaneously as you hold the fish face

How To Reduce Forehead Wrinkles With Face Yoga

To botox or not to botox, that is the question. The answer? No botox, if face yoga techniques demonstrated by author and yoga teacher Annelise Hagen can work for you.
If Botox is not for you, then face yoga might be a good alternative to help reduce wrinkles. Face yoga a system of stretching and working face muscles to create a more youthful appearance: * Using the same basic principles of movement and exercise, when a muscle is contracted and released it will get stronger. * It has been shown that when a muscle is repetitively worked that the production of collagen is prolonged. * Collagen and elastin are those connective fibers that help the skin stay resilient. * Facial movement does not cause wrinkles but rather scowling, puckering and unconscious habits.

The Lion Face * The lion face is derived from Yoga and helps tone all the muscles of the face and releases stress. * To practice the lion face simply take a deep breath in and scowl and pucker up everything on your face and then exhale and release, sticking out your tongue like a lion yawning.

Forehead * The forehead muscle is a rather large muscle called the Frontalis. * A simple exercise of raising and lowering your eyebrows can be used to help reduce wrinkles in your forehead. * To do this exercise just place your fingertips on the outer edges of your forehead and apply pressure while raising and lowering your eyebrows.

Eyebrow Crease * To help reduce the wrinkling between the eyebrows you simply need to make the scowl so the wrinkle is present, then place your index fingers in the middle of each eyebrow and pull out, away from the face. Hold it for about 5 seconds. * All of these exercises are aimed at increasing circulation. * With continuous practice you can see results in 3-4 weeks.
